BACKGROUND

Senior Researcher (RSIV)

Senior research staff who are recognised international experts providing intellectual leadership in a specialist area and establishing the strategic direction of a major research programme.

Senior Administrative Officer (ALC6)

Senior managerial and professional staff including Directors and some Deputy Directors of UAS functions and Divisional Secretaries.

SETTING PAY

Senior Researcher (RSIV)

Spot salaries for individuals which are agreed on recruitment, taking the size of the role, market pay, and view of the external funding body into account. Salaries are approved by the SAP.

Senior Administrative Officer (ALC6)

Spot salaries for individuals which are agreed on recruitment, taking the size of the role and market pay into account. Salaries are approved by the SAP.

 

PAY AWARDS

Cost of living increases are negotiated nationally by UCEA and effective from 1 August each year.

PAY PROGRESSION

Senior Researcher (RSIV)

Salaries may be increased for retention purposes or via the RSIV salary review, which is timed to coincide with the Professorial Merit Pay Exercise. Those with title can also apply for Professorial Merit Pay.

Senior Administrative Officer (ALC6)

Salaries may be increased for retention purposes or via the biennial ALC6 salary review.
