Launch of formal Consultation
The Academic Career and Reward Framework is a transformative proposal for Oxford. Rooted in the University’s Strategic Plan and People Strategy, and shaped by extensive consultation across the collegiate University, it reimagines how we structure academic roles, recognise contributions and enable career progression. It proposes a new approach; a structure designed to support academic success across multiple pathways and career stages that enables the University to recognise excellence, in all its forms, fairly and transparently.
This website is your gateway to understanding the framework. You’ll find endorsement from the Vice-Chancellor, a presentation by the programme leader, and accessible information about the new job families, promotion pathways and academic career stages to help you explore how the ACRF supports development, fairness and opportunity for all academics at Oxford.
We invite you to familiarise yourself with the framework ahead of the formal consultation, which is planned for Hilary and Trinity terms 2026. This consultation will be your opportunity to participate in webinars, pose questions to experts and be part of our collective investment in Oxford’s academic future.
